Soldiers of funk and groove
Dumpstaphunk stands out among New Orleans’ best as one of the funkiest bands to ever emerge from the Crescent City. Born on the Jazz & Heritage Festival stage, and descended from Neville family bloodlines, these soldiers of funk ignite a deep, gritty groove that dares listeners not to move. Their performances combine ingenious musicianship and complex funk and jazz arrangements with soulful melodies that anyone can enjoy.
George Porter, Jr. & His Runnin’ Pardners
Few bass players in the history of modern New Orleans music are as storied as George Porter, Jr. During the course of a career spanning more than four decades, Porter has not only made a deep impression with his work as the bassist in The Meters, but he’s worked with a diverse who’s who of musicians, like Paul McCartney, Jimmy Buffett, Patti LaBelle, Robbie Robertson and Tori Amos, to name a few. He is also the bandleader of the Runnin’ Pardners, a well-respected quintessential New Orleans band, which continues to receive accolades on the jam band and festival scene.
