KU School of Music
The KU School of Music invites you to “The Music That Unites Us,” a musical program that promises to lift up our collective humanity. Featuring the talents of the KU Symphony Orchestra, KU Choirs and soloists, F.L. Schlagle Choir and students from Haskell Indian Nations University, the program will include a culturally diverse selection of traditional and contemporary works.
A highlight will be Aaron Copland’s “A Lincoln Portrait,” which will be narrated by KU Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little. The program also will include songs that pull from the First Nations, Spiritual and Mexican traditions as well as John Williams’ popular film score from “Amistad” and Bette Midler’s classic “From a Distance.”
The concert is sponsored by Reach Out Kansas, Inc., Jim Zakoura, Lee Smithyman and the law offices of Smithyman & Zakoura. Along with the KU School of Music, support for the concert comes from the KU Office of the Chancellor, the KU Office of the Provost and more than 40 uniting sponsors from around KU and the community.
