The Prairie Winds Festival is an annual event encouraging the musical growth of high school musicians of all levels. The festival provide advanced instruction for high school wind and percussion performers in a supportive, challenging and fun environment. Each year, students from across the United States converge on the historic KU campus to take part in this unique musical opportunity. During the festival, students participate in master classes, chamber ensembles, and perform in select ensembles. The festival concludes with performances at KU’s celebrated Lied Center.
Faculty for the festivals is comprised of the artist faculty from the University of Kansas. Students will work directly with these outstanding musicians and teachers throughout the weekend in master classes, clinics, chamber music coaching, and ensemble rehearsals.
