Lied Center receives two grants from Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission

The Lied Center of Kansas has been awarded two grants from the Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission. In the Innovative Partnerships category, a $10,000 grant will support a return visit by Chicago Children’s Theatre Company in spring 2018. The Lied Center, in partnership with the KU Edwards Campus and the Kansas Center for Autism and Research Training, will present the company’s new work, Red Kite Treasure Adventure, for children on the autism spectrum both in Lawrence and at the Edwards Campus. Funds raised in the most recent Launch KU crowdfunding campaign will also support this project.

In the Visiting Artists category, a $5,000 grant will support the Lied Center’s School Performance Series. The Lied Center has presented school performances for the students in USD 497 and the surrounding area for over 23 years. Expanded over the last three years to reach every student from Pre-K through 12th grade, this program provides free performing arts experiences in dance, theatre, music and other forms.
