Expanding Performing Arts Access

LSF-fundraiser-dinner-webA fundraising dinner to support performing arts experiences for middle and high school students

Monday, October 23 • 6–8 pm
Lied Center Stage
$50 donation per person

Join the Lawrence Schools Foundation and the Lied Center for a dinner buffet with artist
Ashli Cristoval, aka Jazzy Ash. Ashli will talk about her work as a musician and teacher, and the importance of teaching kids about jazz music and the history surrounding it.

Jazzy Ash and her band, The Leaping Lizards, will present an interactive performance that tells the multicultural story of “Jazz in America” for third through fifth graders in USD 497. Students will learn about the birth of jazz music in New Orleans and how jazz is the narrative of the early black American experience. In this upbeat, celebratory approach, students can grow in cultural competency as they learn to appreciate jazz as a testimony to the incredible tenacity of the human spirit.

Dinner attendees are invited to a school-only performance of Jazzy Ash & The Leaping Lizards at the Lied Center on October 23 or October 24 at 9:45 am. or 1:00 pm. No reservations necessary.

RSVP and make your donation to the Lawrence Schools Foundation by October 16.
This donation is fully tax-deductible.
