Join Ashley and the “Ashley Davis Band” for her annual Winter Solstice show in the Lied Center Pavilion. This year, Ashley will return to playing selections from her winter and Christmas albums, along with a few favorites!
Returning this year, for both shows, is Dublin harper Cormac De Barra—one of the signature sounds of Ashley’s music. Joining them will be Colin Farrell, who is a regular in the band, but Lawrence crowds have gotten to know him over the last two years with the guesting group, Lúnasa. Virtuoso guitarist Patrick Doocey, who hails from County Mayo in Ireland, will be rounding out the foursome.
From Cormac De Barra: I have been traveling from Dublin to Lawrence for almost a decade now to play these special shows. As a result, I have gotten to know Lawrence as a community, and I look forward to this holiday celebration with many friends and, hopefully, new faces!
From Colin Farrell: Lawrence is a top town. Looking forward to coming back to the Lied Center (and Freestate Brewery!) for these special shows with Ashley.
The musical passport of recording artist and songwriter Ashley Davis offers a rich display of colorful stamps from Ireland and Scotland, but also heavily draws from the influences of her birthplace, the Kansas plains, and the country music traditions borne of the Appalachian Mountains. An internationally recognized recording artist and songwriter, Ashley has collaborated with musical luminaries such as the Chieftains’ Paddy Moloney, fiddle player Eileen Ivers, harpist Cormac De Barra, the “First Lady of Celtic Music” Moya Brennan, Sara Watkins and John Doyle, among many others.
