JUVINO FILHO is a clarinetist. He has a PhD in Music from the Federal University of Bahia in Brazil and is a Professor at the Federal University of the Recôncavo of Bahia. He has performed in concerts with the Reutlingen-DE Youth Opera (Germany), the Orchestra and Symphonic Band of the Federal University of Bahia, the Clube do Choro of Brasília, and the Festival Clarinete In Orquestra Loures in Portugal with António Saiote. He was awarded the Braskem Award and the Rumos Música Itaú Award. Prof. Filho is the President of the Clube do Choro da Bahia and the author of the CD Cartas Musicaes and the book A Clarineta Pelas Bandas da Bahia: O Legado de Manuel Tranquillino Bastos. He did his post-doctoral studies on the Brazilian and Portuguese Clarinet at the University of Aveiro (UA) and the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (UNL) in Portugal and on Brazilian Music Pedagogy at the State University of Bahia (UNEB). He produced the concert “From Choro to Jazz: Brazilian and American Sound Bridges” in Salvador-Bahia in January and July of 2019, which included KU faculty and graduate students.
