Kit Yan, slam poet

Kit Yan’s poetry explores their identity as transgender, queer and an Asian American from Hawaii. Yan’s award-winning solo slam-poetry show, Queer Heartache, is a testament to the resilience of queer love, in all its forms, in the face of heartbreaking barriers everywhere—from the dating pool to the medical establishment. Wrap yourself in a rainbow and enjoy the ride. Yan is a 2018–19 Dramatists Guild Foundation Fellow, 2019 Lincoln Center writer-in-residence, 2019–20 Musical Theater Factory Makers Fellow and a 2019 MacDowell Fellow. Their work has been produced by the American Repertory Theater, the Smithsonian and the Musical Theater Factory, among others.
