The Medicine Show
Melissa Etheridge is one of rock music’s great female icons, and she’s returning to her home state to take the stage at the Lied Center of Kansas! She stormed onto the American-rock music scene in 1988 with the release of her critically acclaimed self-titled debut album, which went double platinum. Etheridge’s popularity built around such memorable songs as “Bring Me Some Water” and “Ain’t It Heavy,” for which she won her first Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Vocal. She hit her commercial and artistic stride with her fourth album, Yes I Am, featuring the massive hits “I’m the Only One” and “Come to My Window,” which won her a second Grammy. The six-time platinum album spent more than two and a half years on the album chart. In 1995, Etheridge issued her highest-charting album, Your Little Secret, which was distinguished by the hit single “I Want to Come Over.” She is also an Oscar winner for Best Original Song in 2007. Known for her confessional lyrics and raspy, smoky vocals, Etheridge has remained one of America’s favorite female singer-songwriters for more than two decades.
