Lawrence Public Schools will host its annual ONE DREAM MLK Celebration January 18 at the Lied Center. The gallery opens at 6:00 pm and the celebration begins at 7:00 pm.

The District Student Equity Council selected this year’s theme: “Together, We are the Dream United as One Voice.” It honors the 60th Anniversary of the March on Washington and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech.

The district’s special guest speaker this year is The Artivist Nikkolas Smith, #1 New York Times Bestselling Illustrator. Smith will sign books following the program and will conduct eight school performances during his visit. His book, “The Artivist,” will be used as a districtwide resource to celebrate how we can use our gifts to incite change.
