When not performing, Domingo is a passionate educator. He was in charge of the National Trombone Academy of Venezuela, a professor at the Simón Bolívar music conservatory and the National Experimental University of the Arts (UNEARTE), and a chamber-music coach of the SISTEMA (an orchestral musical program of the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra). As part of this Yamaha Performing Group, he conducts master classes and performs to audiences all over the world.
Paulina Leisring is a Latin Grammy Award-winning pianist and educator based in the Lawrence and Kansas City area. After graduating with distinction from the National Taiwan University of Arts in 1994, Paulina continued her education in the U.S., earning three degrees and culminating with a doctorate in musical arts with honors from KU in 2006. She is considered a versatile musician, whose experiences range from concert soloist, recitalist and chamber musician to a keyboard collaborator for opera, ballet, chorus and instrumental soloists. She has performed as a solo artist and chamber musician with artists in Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Taiwan, Peru, China and the U.S., and she has given master classes in Taiwan, Spain and China.
Paulina is sought after as a teacher and has a successful studio, teaching in the Lawrence/Kansas City area. She is dedicated to creating unique and engaging programming for all ages and levels. In 2021, she was recognized and awarded by Alamo Music Center and Kawai Pianos of America as a Kawai Medallion Educator for her teaching work.
In June 2019, Domingo and Paulina released an album together entitled Eternal Gratitude, which won a Latin Grammy Award in the category of Best Classical Music Album. The CD was produced by the famous musician and pedagogue Maestro Sam Pilafian and was recorded in Swarthout Recital Hall at KU. The Best Classical Album category in the Latin Grammys has previously been won by the likes of Placido Domingo (2000, 2001, 2008, 2014), Paquito D’Rivera (2003, 2005) and famed Spanish singer Montserrat Caballe (2007).
