Sunday, May 5, 2019: The Lied Center of Kansas announced the 2019–20 season to the Friends of the Lied at the annual Season Announcement Party on Sunday, May 5. The season includes a wide variety of performances and genres, including four national-touring Broadway shows, several legendary musicians, world-renowned classical ensembles, folk artists, innovative dance, family-friendly shows and much more.
A few highlights of the upcoming season include Grammy-winners Boz Scaggs, Buddy Guy, Melissa Etheridge and Chris Thile, to name a few, as well as crowd favorite Black Violin and the family-friendly The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show—a staged version of the beloved children’s book. The Lied Center has also continued the Folk, Chamber Music and Just Friends Jazz Series’ performances in the intimate setting of the Lied Center Pavilion.
“This season promises to be diverse and entertaining. From a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer to a New York Times best-selling author, and MacArthur Fellows to Tony Award-winning Broadway productions, we truly have something for everyone,” said Derek Kwan, executive director of the Lied Center.
