The Lied Center of Kansas announced the 2023–24 season on Sunday, April 30, to the Friends of the Lied at the annual Season Announcement Party. The upcoming season marks the 30th anniversary of the Lied Center, and the new season lineup includes national Broadway tours, legendary musicians, trailblazing artists, hilarious performances, family shows and much more.
A few highlights of the upcoming season, which kicks off in September, include DCs Reflecting Fools (featuring former members of the Capitol Steps), Hiplet Ballerinas, Nikki Glaser, Buddy Guy, Annie, Ira Glass, MEAN GIRLS, Leo Kottke and Mandy Patinkin. Additionally, there are two more show announcements planned soon—a legendary rock group will be announced on May 8 and another Broadway show will be announced on June 26. The Lied Center has also continued the Folk, Chamber Music and Just Friends Jazz Series performances in the intimate setting of the Lied Center Pavilion.
In celebration of the 30th anniversary, the Lied Center has launched a new project, the Lied Legacy Seat Campaign, that invites individuals to make a permanent mark in the venue by naming an auditorium seat. Contributions to the Lied Legacy Seat Campaign supports a new endowed fund for local students’ bus transportation to school-only performances every year, in perpetuity. More information about this initiative can be found at lied.ku.edu/name-a-seat.
“Through the years, we have shared so many collective experiences with the community, from engaging performances and events to weathering a global pandemic. We’re so grateful to our Friends of the Lied and the entire community for supporting us through it all, enabling the Lied Center stage to thrive and celebrate this milestone year,” said Derek Kwan, executive director of the Lied Center.
